New Delhi : The central government has directed FM radio stations not to broadcast songs or content glorifying alcohol, drugs, weapons, gangsters, gun culture. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has instructed the FM channels to strictly follow the terms and conditions in this regard.

Strictly follow the terms and conditions prescribed in the ‘Governance Agreement (GOPA) and Migration Permission Agreement (MGOPA). not make any transmissions that violate these Terms; Otherwise, penal action will be taken as per the terms and conditions of ‘GOPA’ and ‘MGOPA’, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has issued a stern warning to the FM radio channels. Broadcasting such songs or content is a violation of the Broadcasting Code. For this, the Center has the right to suspend permission and ban broadcasting, the ministry has also warned the FM channels.

After it was noticed that some FM channels were airing songs or content glorifying alcohol, drugs, weapons, gangsters, gun culture, the Union Ministry has directed to stop this glorification. The ministry has pointed out to the FM channels that such songs, as well as content, affect children of the formative age and promote gun culture, which was taken judicial notice of by the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
