Corona Vaccination: Flying in the river but not getting vaccinated, scares the villagers

Lucknow:A very shocking type has emerged from the Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh between the corona infection and the ongoing vaccination across the country to fight it.

The villagers of Sisoda, situated on the banks of the river Sharu, are so vocal against vaccination that many have fled the village. After the health team arrived in the village, many jumped into the river to escape vaccination. The incident happened last Saturday. Notably, participation in vaccination is voluntary.

The villagers got out of the river water after being persuaded by the administration and police officials. In all, only 18 people in the village were vaccinated in eight hours.

According to a woman in the village, many villagers rushed to the river after seeing the health department team in the village. When a team from the health department reached the riverbank to explain the importance of vaccination, the villagers jumped into the river in panic.

Health officials were also frightened when villagers jumped into the water. He immediately reported the matter to the sub-divisional magistrate and local police.

The misconception that vaccination will kill you is ingrained in the minds of the villagers. Therefore, he said that he did not want to be vaccinated. Attempts by health department staff to communicate with him also proved futile.

The village is 70 km away from Barabanki district headquarters. The village has a population of 1500 and the education system is poor, so most of the people are illiterate. However, health officials had earlier received rumors in the village. Therefore, the villagers were almost unanimous against vaccination.

At present, if only 18 people have been vaccinated, efforts are being made to allay the fears of the citizens by imparting proper information to them, said the concerned officials.
