The letter, addressed to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has been signed by 104 former IAS officers. They include former security adviser Shivshankar Menon, former foreign secretary Nirupama Rao and former prime minister’s adviser TKA Nair.
“Once the source of Ganga-Yamuna culture and civilization, Uttar Pradesh has now become the center of politics of hatred, discrimination and bigotry,” the official said.
The letter also said that government organizations were immersed in social discrimination. “The provisions of the Constitution, which was sworn in by all leaders and ministers, including Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, need to be studied and revised,” the letter said.
The letter also mentioned the incidents taking place in Uttar Pradesh under the guise of ‘Love Jihad Opposition’. The officials also said that minorities are being targeted under such incidents. For this, he also mentioned the incident of Moradabad. In Moradabad, two youths were allegedly beaten up by Bajrang Dal activists.
Officials have cited comments from several other courts, including the Allahabad High Court, in their letter. In the letter, the officials also mentioned that the Constitution of the country has given complete freedom to a knowledgeable person to choose his / her spouse. “There is an attempt to weaken and ignore this constitution in Uttar Pradesh,” he said.
