Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai alleged that the people here are now hating the Maharashtra Integration Committee and that the leaders of Maharashtra are spoiling the atmosphere in the border areas.
Bommai said that in the meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, instructions were given to maintain law and order, maintain harmony in both the states, solve local problems in a coordinated manner. He also said that a committee of five lawyers has been formed under the leadership of Mukul Rohitagi to represent Karnataka in the Supreme Court. Bommai also said that he is ready to represent Karnataka in the Supreme Court competently and that a separate committee has been formed for the border and water dispute.
Meanwhile, a meeting was held in the capital Delhi last week on the border issue between Maharashtra and Karnataka in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai. There was a border dispute between the states of Karnataka and Maharashtra. Maharashtra Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, Karnataka Chief Minister, Home Minister were called for an end to this dispute and a constitutional solution. Amit Shah had said that there was a good discussion with both the parties in the presence of Home Department officials.
There are other issues between the two states which will be discussed by three ministers. Efforts will be made to maintain law and order in both the states. Amit Shah said that a senior police officer will be given the job for the security of travelers and traders.
