This strange incident has happened in Tirwa Kotwali area of Kannauj district of Uttar Pradesh. The groom informs the bride’s father that he is canceling the marriage as the bride-to-be did not get good marks in class 12th. But, after the groom’s decision, the bride’s father said that the groom’s family broke off the marriage as the dowry was not sufficient. It is said that the marriage broke up as the bride’s party could not pay the amount of dowry demanded by the groom’s family.

Sometime before the wedding, when all the preparations for the wedding were done, the groom said that the marriage was breaking up. After that, the bride’s father lodged a complaint with the police about the matter.
The father said in the complaint that he had decided to get his daughter Soni married to Sonu, son of Ramshankar of Baganwa village. The bride’s father spent Rs 60,000 on the wedding, including a gold ring worth Rs 15,000 for the groom. After a few days, the groom’s family demanded dowry.
