The Covishield vaccine will be administered by the Indian vaccine manufacturer Serum Institute of India (SII).
The Pune-based Serum Institute in Maharashtra is the largest vaccine manufacturer in the world in terms of vaccine production. Therefore, Covishield is a domestically produced vaccine, while Covacin is a vaccine developed in India and will be manufactured in India. The vaccine is developed by Bharat Biotech with the help of Indian Medical Research Council (ICMR).
