Under the new rates, a vegetarian dish will be available in the Parliament canteen for Rs. A vegetarian buffet costs Rs 500 and a non-vegetarian buffet costs Rs 700.
Recently, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birlala had announced the abolition of subsidy on food in the Parliament canteen. He had also clarified that the Parliament canteen would now be run by the Indian Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) instead of the Northern Railway.
In this new canteen of Parliament, 58 food items have been made available since January 27. This includes vegetarian and non-vegetarian foods.
According to the new chart, vegetarian biryani will be available for Rs 50 while chicken biryani will cost Rs 100. The rates will be Rs 75 for chicken curry and Rs 150 for mutton biryani.
Earlier, a plate was charged at Rs 50 for a chicken curry, Rs 65 for a chicken biryani, Rs 35 for a vegetarian dish, Rs 9 for a salad and Rs 2 for a chapati.
