New Delhi: Today is the 72nd day of the farmers’ agitation implemented by the Center. Fifteen opposition MPs, who had been protesting at the border for more than two months, were stopped by police at the Ghazipur border. These MPs were barred from visiting the agitating farmers. These MPs include NCP leader Supriya Sule, DMK MP Kanimozhi and Akali Dal MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal.

Despite repeated requests to the security apparatus, these MPs were not allowed to meet the farmers. Therefore, the agitating farmers had to return without visiting them.

Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal, who has been in power with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party at the Center, shared the news on social media. At the same time, he has strongly attacked his former colleague BJP.

He also expressed surprise that MPs are also prevented from meeting the agitating farmers.

Fifteen MPs from other parties including Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), Dravida Munnetra Kalagham (DMK), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Trinamool Congress had arrived at the Ghazipur border. Attempts were made by these MPs to visit the agitating farmers and question them. However, the leaders were denied permission by the police to cross the barricade and enter the protest site, said Harsimrat Kaur Badal.

Opposition MPs Tiruchi Shiva and Saugat Rai are also among the MPs. It also includes members of the National Conference, the Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML).
