Haridwar: The Haridwar Kumbh Mela 2021 will now be held only in the month of April. Usually Kumbh Mela starts from January. But this year, due to Kovid, Kumbh Mela will be limited to the month of April only. The official notification of Kumbh Mela will be issued in March and the bathing of Mahashivaratri will take place after the notification of Kumbh Mela, it was speculated for the last few days.
Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Omprakash issued the order on Tuesday. Kumbh Mela will be held from April 1 to April 30. It is not yet clear whether the guidelines issued by the Union Health Ministry will remain in force or whether other rules of the state government will be implemented.
Shrimant Harigiri, General Secretary, Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad, welcomed the decision. The decision of the Central and State Governments will be welcomed. Hundreds of petitions are pending in the Supreme Court and the High Court. Corona is a contagious disease. The Kumbh Mela will be held as per the decision taken by the government and the administration to curb its spread, said Harigiri.
