Elections were held on February 14 in 2302 wards for 8 Municipal Corporations, 109 Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats.
Notably, re-election is taking place at five different polling booths where irregularities were found in the election process without the counting of votes starting today. In some of these places, the EVM was damaged. After that, the Punjab Election Commission had announced to hold re-election on Tuesday.

A total of 9222 candidates are in the fray for 2302 wards and 109 Municipal Councils of Abohar, Bathinda, Batala, Kapurthala, Mohali, Hoshiarpur, Pathankot and Moga Municipal Corporations.
Among the candidates are 2,832 independents, 2,307 members of the ruling Congress and 1,569 members of the Shiromani Akali Dal. 1003 candidates have been fielded from BJP, 1606 from AAP and 160 from BSP.
