Earlier, on June 23 last year, an immunity booster called coronil was announced to fight the corona virus. After the controversy, Patanjali had clarified that the drug could not only overcome the corona but also help boost the immune system.
This is the second time that this ayurvedic medicine has been brought to the market under the name of ‘Coronil Tablet’ from Baba Ramdev’s ‘Patanjali’. Yoga guru Ramdev Baba had claimed that the drug had been approved by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, as per the guidelines of the World Health Organization. However, an official tweet from the United Nations denied the allegations. The World Health Organization (WHO) has not approved the use of any conventional medicine for the treatment of coronavirus, the WHO said in a statement.
Patanjali and Ramdev Baba also claimed that Coronil would help 158 countries of the world to join hands with Coron. At this time, for the launch of the drug on 19th February 2021, the Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari were also present.
This has been objected to by the IMA. ‘Does it suit the country’s health minister to advertise such false and unscientific products in front of the people of the country? Is it morally wrong to encourage such things in an immoral, wrong, and false way? ‘ Such questions were raised by the National President of IMA, Dr. Jayalal has asked.
According to the code of the Medical Council of India, no doctor can advertise any medicine. Shockingly, the health minister himself is a doctor here and is seen promoting the drug, the IMA has also reported. Saying that this is an insult to the entire country, IMA asked the Health Minister Dr. Harshvardhan has been asked for clarification.
