Chennai:With the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections looming, the state has extended the lockdown period. A lockdown has been declared in Tamil Nadu till March 31.

All the 234 assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu will go to the polls in a single phase on April 6. In the run-up to the elections, the state government has announced a decision to tighten lockdown restrictions.

Under lockdown, government private offices, shops and industrial establishments will have the presence of certain employees at different times. Kovid has been instructed to take action on violations of the rules. Vigilance has been instructed regarding containment zones. However, essential services are exempted.

In Tamil Nadu, 8,51,542 crore infected patients have been found so far. Out of these 4022 patients are undergoing treatment. As many as 8,35,024 patients have overcome coronary heart disease. So far 12,496 people have lost their lives in the state. Evanna has passed more than 1.7 crore corona tests in the state.

Meanwhile, the second phase of corona vaccination has been launched in the country. In this phase, corona vaccine will be given to people above 60 years of age as well as people over 45 years of age but facing serious illness.
