Confusion in Rajya Sabha over fuel, gas price hike; Work suspended twice

New Delhi: In the second phase of the budget session, Parliament resumed its work today. However, as soon as the Rajya Sabha resumed its proceedings, the Congress-led opposition MPs surrounded the government on various issues such as Inder tariff hike and domestic gas tariff hike. The Rajya Sabha has seen a strong season on this issue. Therefore, the proceedings of the House were adjourned for an hour. As soon as it was seen that the chaos continued, the Speaker adjourned the House till 1 pm.

After the second phase of the budget session began on Monday, Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge raised the issue of skyrocketing petrol and diesel prices in the country. Opposition parties have stated they will not run in the by-elections.

However, as per Rule 267, only an urgent issue is discussed by adjourning the House. That is why this demand is being rejected, “Naidu said in a statement. During the discussion on the Appropriation Bill in the current session and at other times, members can have their say in this regard, Naidu said. Opposition groups called for a boycott of the assembly.
