The new Parliament House will be a temple of self-reliant India and a reflection of the country’s diversity. It will be 17,000 square meters bigger than the old parliament building. The building will be constructed on an area of 64,500 square meters at a cost of Rs 971 crore. Tata Projects Limited has been awarded the contract to construct the new Parliament building. The design is by HCP Design, Planning and Management Private Limited, said Om Birla.
After 75 years of independence, both the Houses will resume functioning in the new Parliament House. The new parliament will have about 888 seats for Lok Sabha members and more than 326 seats for Rajya Sabha members. The Lok Sabha Hall can accommodate 1224 members at a time, said Om Birla.

The democratic legacy will be seen
In addition to the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha halls, the new building will have a grand Constitution Room. In order to showcase India’s democratic heritage, among other things, an original copy of the event, a digital display will be provided to the guests. This will give them information about India’s journey in the form of parliamentary democracy.
