New Delhi: Freedom of expression should not be restricted in social media. This will lead to more litigation, said a senior law official in the central government. Attorney General K. K. Venugopal has expressed this opinion. The Supreme Court only takes the lead in contempt cases, Venugopal said. He also said that the Supreme Court takes action after the limit is violated.
Venugopal said the government should not take any steps to curb such freedom. If anyone thinks there is anything left, the Supreme Court will look into it. Venugopal has clarified that the Supreme Court is taking initiative only in rare cases.
