Election violence in Bengal, attack on BJP candidate, media car bombed

Kolkata: The second phase of West Bengal elections is underway in West Bengal today. It also includes the very high profile Nandigram constituency in Bengal. The polls have been marred by violence in some places. The turnout was 37.42 per cent till 11.31 am. Voting starts at 7 am.

The car of BJP candidate Tanmay Ghosh from Keshpur constituency in West Bengal has been attacked by throwing stones. In addition, a BJP polling agent at booth number 173 was beaten up. The polling agent was rushed to a hospital. It is alleged that the attack was carried out by Trinamool Congress workers.

Besides, stones were hurled at media vehicles. The attack took place near the 170th polling station in Kamalapur in the Nandigram assembly constituency. BJP leader and party candidate from Nandigram Suvendu Adhikari has targeted TMC over these violent incidents. The attacks are carried out by Pakistani supporters.
