Indore: A rape complaint has been lodged against the son of a Congress MLA in Ujjain district of Madhya Pradesh. The allegation was made by a woman activist of the Youth Congress.

According to an official of the Indore Women’s Police Station, a case of rape has been registered against Karan Morwal, son of Congress MLA Murli Morwal from Badnagar area. A 28-year-old woman has accused 30-year-old Karan of raping her in February. Station in-charge Jyoti Sharma has filed a case based on the victim’s reply.

The victim was introduced to Karan a few years back. The young woman claimed that she was raped on Valentine’s Day after she demanded marriage. The young woman also claimed that the MLA’s son had threatened her and that she had proof of this in the form of an audio recording.

Claim that the child was blackmailed

Police said that the matter is being investigated after the woman’s complaint. On the other hand, Congress MLA Murli Morwal has said that the allegations made against his son are false.

‘Efforts have been made by the concerned woman for a long time to steal money from her child. “My son had lodged a written complaint with the Indore Deputy Inspector General of Police on April 1 after realizing that this woman could file a false case against him,” Morwal said.

The parties have also taken note of the matter. State Youth Congress president Vikrant Bhuria has appointed a three-member committee to probe the alleged rape case at the organizational level. The report of the committee will come within a week. The committee consists of two women and one man leader, the Congress said.
