The fire in Kovid ward engulfed four patients and shifted 80 others to another hospital

Ujjain A fire broke out at a private Kovid hospital in Friganj in Ujjain on Sunday morning. Four patients have died in the fire. One of them is said to be in critical condition. At the time of the incident, 80 patients were being treated at the hospital. Of these, 24 were from Corona. All patients have been moved to another hospital. It is said that the fire started due to a short circuit.

Umashankar Patidar’s hospital is called Patidar Hospital and Research Center in Friganj. At 11.30 am this morning, a warden from Covid Ward on the second floor of the two-storey private hospital saw smoke coming. He informed the management about this. Smoke billowed from the building as I watched. This caused the patient to break out of the window. As soon as the information was received, 4 vehicles of the fire brigade reached the spot. They brought the fire under control in half an hour.

More than 80 patients admitted to the hospital

After the fire broke out, work was started to evacuate 80 patients admitted to the hospital. This includes women and children. Relatives of the admitted patients were also in the hospital at the time. After about 1 hour of untiring efforts, all the patients were shifted to another hospital with the help of 20 ambulances. The fire destroyed all the machines and furniture in the Covid ward.

The alarm did not go off

Despite a fire alarm in the hospital, it did not ring at the time of the incident. This raises questions about fire safety at the hospital. Fire control equipment was also not suitable. The hospital administration has claimed that the fire was brought under control before the fire brigade arrived.
