New Delhi: The Sputnik V vaccine, developed by Russia, has been approved by the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) following a committee of experts, according to the Russian Direct Investment Fund. At the same time, India has become the 60th country to recognize the Sputnik V vaccine.

The DCGI on Monday night approved the emergency use of the Sputnik V vaccine, which was developed to fight covid 19.

On Monday, a committee of Indian experts appointed by the Center on vaccines gave the green light to the emergency use of the Sputnik V vaccine. In India, Sputnik V will be the third vaccine to combat covid after India Biotech’s covacin and serum institute of India – Oxford-AstraZeneca developed covishield.

The Russian Direct Investment Fund has entered into agreements with a total of five companies in India, including Dr Reddy’s Lab and Gland Pharma, for the distribution of the vaccine.

Over the last few days, there have been complaints of shortage of corona vaccine from many states in the country. Vaccination centers were also closed in many places due to lack of vaccines.
