LIVE update:
– Five candidates contesting in West Bengal have been found to be corona positive. Of these, three are from the Trinamool Congress, one from the Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) and one from the Bharatiya Janata Party.
– Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to the people of the fifth phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections, especially the first-time voters, to exercise their voting right in large numbers.
– Voting will start at 7.00 am. Voting will continue till 6.00 pm
– A total of 45 seats in six districts of this fifth state will be polled
– All the polling stations in the fifth phase have been declared as sensitive
– In the fifth phase, a total of 1 crore 13 lakh 73 thousand 307 voters will exercise their right to vote
– A total of 342 candidates are trying their luck in the fifth phase of voting
– A total of 15,789 polling stations have been set up in different districts for polling
The state will go to the polls in 43 seats in the sixth phase on April 22, 36 seats in the seventh phase on April 26 and 35 seats in the eighth phase on April 29. The results of all the five states will be announced on May 2.
Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours, 6,910 new infections have been detected in the state and 26 deaths have been reported.
