Oxygen supply in many parts of the country is declining. Some patients have lost their lives due to lack of oxygen supply even after being admitted to the hospital.
At such a time, Piyush Goyal said, ‘Patients should use as much oxygen as they need. In many places, there are reports of patients being given oxygen even when they are not needed, ‘tweeted Piyush Goyal.
According to news agency ANI, ‘the state government should control the demand for medical oxygen. Demand and supply management is a must. It is the responsibility of the state government to prevent the spread of Covid 19, which is their responsibility, ‘said Piyush Goyal.
“If the number of coward patients continues to grow in such an uncontrolled manner, it will have a huge impact on the country’s health system. We stand with the state government, but they need to control the demand and take concrete steps to prevent covid infection, ”said Piyush Goyal.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has criticized the advice given by Piyush Goyal. ‘Condemns Piyush Goyal’s insensitive statement. The state governments have demanded oxygen not for their private use but for hospitalized patients, ”Gehlot said.
Former Union Minister and Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has lashed out at the BJP government, saying, “It is up to the states to stop the spread of infection but the Prime Minister has the right to take credit.”
So, the Marxist Communist Party reacted to its official Twitter handle. ‘What does demand management mean? Instead of making emergency supplies, is the Minister advising patients to limit their breathing or should they accept death? This is the cruelty of criminal tendencies, ”the CPI (M) said.
Earlier last week, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had urged the Center to close the gap between demand and supply of oxygen. Uddhav Thackeray had also written a letter to the Prime Minister. On this, Piyush Goyal had accused the Chief Minister of ‘trivial politics’.
‘I am saddened by the oxygen politics of Uddhav Thackeray. Together, the Government of India is ensuring maximum production of oxygen in the country. We are currently producing oxygen at 110 per cent capacity and the supply of oxygen for industrial use to meet medical needs has been stopped immediately, ”said Piyush Goyal.
