New Delhi: The country’s capital, Corona, is currently under siege. Views from various cemeteries in the capital are seen as thorny. On the one hand, the number of deaths is increasing and on the other hand, there is a shortage of firewood for cremation. Therefore, the municipality has sought help from the state forest department.

Insufficient wood due to increased deaths

According to the information received, the state forest department has been approached by the municipal agency to arrange for the timber. To alleviate the problem of timber, the officials of East Delhi Municipal Corporation have directed to use dried cow dung as fuel.
Before the second wave of Corona, Nigambodh Cemetery, the largest cemetery in the city, required 6,000 to 8,000 kg of wood per day. However, during the second wave, the demand reached around 80,000 to 90,000 kg of timber every day.

There is also a shortage of space in the cemetery for cremation. Therefore, the corporation has provided parking space and funeral facilities in the parks.

Relatives line up for the funeral

The family of the deceased has to wait for 20-20 hours for the funeral, which may give an idea of ​​the dire situation.

About 50 bodies were cremated at a cemetery on Tuesday. Meanwhile, several bodies were stopped outside waiting for the funeral. So many of the bodies were in vehicles parked here. Standing in line, the family waited for their time to arrive for the funeral.

Terrible increase in the number of deaths in the month of April

According to official figures, 3,601 people died in Delhi in April. Of these, 2267 people died in the last week alone. The death toll was 57 in February and 117 in March.

In the last 24 hours, 381 people have died in Delhi due to Kovid 19. This is by far the largest figure in a single day. At the same time, 24,149 infected patients have been found in the last 24 hours while 17,862 patients have overcome coronary heart disease. More than 98,000 patients are undergoing treatment in Delhi.
