vaccination: ‘States be sensitive, don’t let vaccination slow down’

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-level meeting on Thursday. In this backdrop, he reviewed the state and district-wise corona outbreaks. He, meanwhile, directed the states to co-operate and guide in improving infrastructure. A statement was issued by the Prime Minister’s Office. The statement said that Prime Minister Modi emphasized on the need for states to be sensitive and work hard to maintain the pace of vaccination. The situation was reported in 12 states with more than 1 lakh active patients with the highest incidence of corona in the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was briefed on the state and district wise status of Corona. The most infected districts were also informed. The states were informed about the rapid improvements being made in basic health facilities. States should cooperate and guide to improve health facilities, said Prime Minister Modi. This is stated in the statement issued.

Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nirmala Sitharaman, Harshvardhan, Piyush Goyal, Mansukh Bhai Mandvia and other ministers and senior officials were present. Prime Minister Modi reviewed the availability of medicines. They were briefed on efforts to increase production of other essential drugs, including remedivir.

Reviewing the vaccination drive, Prime Minister Modi took stock of the increase in vaccine production in the next few months. The Center has so far supplied 17.7 crore doses of vaccine to the states. Modi also took up the issue of wastage of vaccine. The first dose of the vaccine has been given to 31 per cent citizens over the age of 45, the statement said.
