Hemant Biswa was a veteran Congress leader. He is known in the state for his dominance in various fields, as a lawyer and for his own TV channel. In 2006, Biswa paved the way for the victory of the Congress and he became special to the then Congress Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi. But Sarma could not bear it when Gogoi brought her son forward, setting aside the leader who was campaigning for the storm across the state. Eventually, he defeated the Congress and joined the BJP. After joining the BJP, Biswa Sarma brought the BJP to power not only in Assam but also in Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Nagaland and Meghalaya. He took the always neglected leaders of the North East to the BJP high command and coordinated.

When the BJP faced a crisis in the Northeast, Biswa Sarma became the troublemaker. Using the weight of all-party politics, he took the BJP away from every crisis. Whenever there was a problem for the BJP to come to power, Biswa Sarma stood up and avoided the crisis. That is why BJP knew that Biswa Sarma would not be offended this time. Without giving a second chance to Sarbananda Sonowal, the BJP gave a chance to Hemant Biswa Sarma and he got his high position with this decision.

Hemant Biswa had left the party angry with Rahul Gandhi. He was told to listen to what Gogoi would say, which he did not accept. After the catastrophic defeat in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, internal divisions within the Congress had begun. Assam was no exception. Biswa Sarma claimed leadership in Assam after his defeat in the Lok Sabha. According to the book, Biswa Sarma told Sonia Gandhi that if the Congress wants to win the next (2016) elections, a change of leadership is needed.

Ahmed Patel, the late leader and Sonia Gandhi’s political secretary, was also present. After this, senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge was sent to Assam. According to his report, 52 out of 78 MLAs supported Biswa Sarma. It is said that Sonia Gandhi and Ahmed Patel promised to make Sarma Chief Minister after some time. But then came the big twist. After getting relief from the court in early 2015, he resumed his activities in Delhi. As stated in the book, Rahul Gandhi refused despite repeated support from senior leaders. The last meeting at Rahul Gandhi’s residence was in March 2015 between Tarun Gogoi, then Assam Congress president Anjan Dutta and Biswa Sarma. It is alleged that Biswa Sarma had asked Rahul Gandhi for only five minutes to speak at the meeting, which he did not provide. As stated in the book, this time Rahul Gandhi said, ‘Look, do what you want to do. I’m not worried about it. If you have any problems, talk to CP Joshi. Don’t come to me again, ‘it is alleged.

A few days later, Hemant Biswa Sarma asked for a meeting with Sonia Gandhi. But according to him, this time he was advised to come through the back entrance of 10 Janpath residence. He says that even if the reason is asked, it is not possible to go against children. After all these meetings, Hemant Biswa Sarma finally turned his back on the Congress, never to return.
