This type came to the fore after photos and videos of this wedding surfaced. These videos show the bride and groom dressed in traditional attire wearing necklaces and taking photos. The plane seems to be packed with relatives according to its capacity. Most of these people do not wear masks. It is also seen that the rules of social distance have been violated.

The SpiceJet chartered flight was booked from Madurai a day earlier. Airport officials were not aware of the wedding, which took place during the flight, said Senthil Valvan, director of Mudrai Airport.

According to an airline spokesperson, the flight was booked on May 23, 2021 through a travel agent in Madurai. It was booked as a ‘Joy Ride’ after the wedding. Agents as well as passengers were given complete information of the Covid guidelines. They were also instructed not to perform any ceremony during the flight. Guidelines were often explained during the trip. It also included a ban on photography and videography. However, despite repeated requests, the couple and their relatives refused to comply with the guidelines. Now, according to the airline, appropriate action will be taken.

DGCA has started an investigation into the incident. A detailed report of this kind has been requested from the airline and the airport administration. The SpiceJet crew is currently on duty.

Strict action should be taken against those who do not follow the Kovid rules.
