New Delhi: The Indo-China standoff on the LAC, which started last year, has resurfaced as the world faces the Corona crisis. The Chinese have started crossing the border again. Against the backdrop of lac standoff, the Chief of the Indian Army, General M. M. Narwane (general manoj mukund naravane) has clarified the position of the army on the border. The Indian Army is currently maintaining its grip on the high peaks of the status LAC. A sufficient number of troops are deployed at the border to deal with any situation. Not only that, but the modernization of the Indian Army is also moving in the right direction, said General Narwane.
The government is providing the necessary equipment for the modernization of the army. Since last financial year, contracts worth Rs 21,000 crore have been completed. Apart from this, several procurement proposals for infrastructure are in the process, he said. Ongoing tensions with China in eastern Ladakh have led to suspicions that more resources will have to be spent on the LAC. But General Narwane dismissed these doubts. PTI has given this news.
As per the general procurement plan, contracts worth Rs 16,000 crore have been completed recently. Not only that, in 2020-21, 44 contracts for procurement worth Rs 5,000 crore were completed in an emergency. A number of capital purchase proposals are in the process, General Narwane said.
