New Delhi: Former West Bengal Chief Secretary Lapan Bandyopadhyay on Thursday responded to a show cause notice issued by the Center. Alpan Bandopadhyay has replied to this notice. “We have followed the instructions of the Chief Minister (Mamata Banarjee),” Bandopadhyay said in his reply.

“We have complied with the instructions given by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee,” Alpan Bandopadhyay said in a reply to the notice. On May 28, he was conducting an aerial survey of the North and South 24 Parganas districts damaged by the cyclone. Alpan Bandopadhyay, who was absent from Modi’s meeting, has given the answer that he had gone to Digha on the instructions given by the Chief Minister.

Prime Minister Modi had visited West Bengal and Odisha on May 28 to assess the damage caused by the cyclone. Prime Minister Modi had called a review meeting at Kalaikunda at 2 pm after an aerial inspection of the damage caused by the cyclone in West Bengal. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was also invited to the meeting. But Mamata Banerjee and then-Chief Secretary Alpan Bandopadhyay arrived half an hour late. After that, Mamata Banerjee left with the Chief Secretary, reporting to Prime Minister Modi. The Center expressed its displeasure over Mamata’s rude behavior. The Center also deputed Bandopadhyay, who is also the Chief Secretary. Asked to appear in Delhi on 31st May.

But Mamata Banerjee refused to send Bandopadhyay to the Center. After this, Bandopadhyay resigned from the post of Chief Secretary. After this, Mamata appointed Bandopadhyay as the Chief Adviser to the Chief Minister for 3 years. The Central Government issued a notice to Bandopadhyay under Section 51-B of the Disaster Management Act. He was asked to respond to the notice within three days.
