Guwahati: The government has taken special strategic steps to slow down the growing population of minorities in the state. The aim will be to eradicate poverty and illiteracy. The primary goal of the state government is to boost the health and education sectors. The steps taken by this will curb the growing population of Muslims, said Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

In fact, this kind of feeling should come from the society itself. Because if the government starts some process in this regard, its political meaning will be removed. This is not a political issue. So it is for the good of all mothers and sisters and more than that it is for the good of the society, said Sarma (assam chief minister).

‘Population of Hindus is increasing by 10% and that of Muslims by 29%’

Assam has managed to keep its annual population growth at 1.6 per cent. But according to statistics, the population of Muslims is growing at a rate of 29 per cent and the population of Hindus at a rate of 10 per cent. We are in constant touch with the leaders of the Muslim community. We will be holding discussions with a number of organizations next month to build leadership in the Muslim community, ”Sarma said.
