Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army and CRPF personnel killed the militant in a joint operation. According to the Inspector General of Police in Kashmir, Mehrajuddin Halwai, one of the oldest, most experienced and top commanders of Hizbul Mujahideen, has been killed.
Clashes broke out between security forces and militants in the Pajipora-Renan area of Kralgund in Handwada late on Tuesday night. According to information received, a joint team of 32 National Rifles of the Army and 92 Battalion of the CRPF had participated in the operation in the area. The operation was carried out by the security forces after receiving intelligence that the terrorists were hiding.
The security forces have achieved great success during the clashes in Handwada area of North Kashmir. Mehrajuddin was directly involved in spreading unrest in the valley as well as in many terrorist activities.
