  • Initiative by Prashant Kishor
  • Sharad Pawar’s name is hotly debated

New Delhi : Election strategist Prashant Kishor is currently holding meetings with veteran leaders of the country’s opposition parties. He had recently met Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, before which he had also met NCP president Sharad Pawar. There is a lot of talk in the political circles that this front is being formed to make Sharad Pawar the face of the opposition in the coming presidential election.

Prashant Kishor has met Sharad Pawar three times since the West Bengal Assembly elections. One of the meetings was also attended by Opposition leaders at Pawar’s residence in Delhi. Therefore, it is believed that Sharad Pawar will be the face of the presidency from the opposition.

Opposition is being formed by Prashant Kishor to form a front against the BJP in the forthcoming Assembly and 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Meanwhile, Prashant Kishor had earlier said that he did not believe that the BJP could face a third or fourth front.

Meanwhile, after a meeting with Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi, Prashant Kishor said that he was ready to turn the tide of political battle between Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government and the opposition. The first trap around the BJP government could be wrapped up in next year’s presidential election, sources said.

BJD will be the kingmaker

According to Prashant Kishor’s equations, if Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik gives his BJD support to non-NDA parties, the maths in the presidential election will be in favor of the opposition candidate. The equation also assumes that the support of the opposition parties in Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu will be on the side of the opposition candidate.

Meanwhile, it is believed that Naveen Patnaik could be a game changer and the biggest obstacle in the way of the opposition. According to sources, Prashant Kishor also met Naveen Patnaik and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin recently.

Will Congress come along?

The meeting between Prashant Kishor and Rahul-Priyanka is said to be a solution to the dilemma. The meeting lasted for about two hours. Prashant Kishor’s equation is that if the opposition unites, the BJP can be given a big push before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Prashant Kishor has good relations with Mamata Banerjee, Jaganmohan Reddy, Arvind Kejriwal, Stalin and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray. So bringing everyone together is an easy task for them. But it is a challenge to get the Congress involved.

Meanwhile, the meeting between Prashant Kishor and the Gandhi family is said to have had a positive discussion. Congress president Sonia Gandhi is also expected to attend the meeting via video link. Priyanka Gandhi had also postponed her visit to Lucknow for the meeting. According to sources, Prashant Kishor clarified his entire policy in a meeting with the Gandhi family. He also told the Congress how it would benefit various states.
