How did it happen

The incident took place around 6.00 pm on Thursday in Lal Plateau village of Ganjbasaudha. A 14-year-old boy accidentally fell into a well dug in the area while playing. This well is about 30 feet deep. Also the well has 10 to 15 feet of water. As soon as it was noticed that the boy had fallen into the well, a crowd of helpers and spectators gathered around the well.
Rescue operation continues

However, the land on the wall of this well was eroded. The well was covered with a cemented slab from above. The slab suddenly collapsed as a single crowd of people gathered, and more than 30 people standing on the slab fell one by one into the well. Administration officials rushed to the spot as soon as they got information about the incident. Rescue and relief work including JCB machine was started. However, around 11.00 pm, another tractor used in the rescue operation collapsed due to landslides.
Four killed and 19 rescued

Rescue operations are being carried out in the area by NDRF, SDRF and local administration. So far, the troops have managed to evacuate 19 people safely. Vidisha district minister in charge Vishwas Sarang said four bodies had been recovered. It is understood that some people are still missing.
5 lakh assistance to relatives of the deceased: CM

Upon learning of the incident, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan immediately dispatched NDRF, SDRF teams to Bhopal for rescue. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the victims, Rs 50,000 each to the injured and free treatment to the injured.
The control room became the wedding venue

When the incident came to light, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was present at the wedding of his adopted daughters in Vidisha. Upon receiving the information of the accident, the Chief Minister made his control room at the wedding venue. From here, he immediately instructed all the officers including the Inspector General of Police, Commissioner, Collector to rescue. Chief Minister Chouhan himself is keeping an eye on the incident. The Chief Minister tweeted that he was in touch with all the officials.
