Troubled Afghanistan: Trinamool ready to attend all-party meeting

Kolkata: India’s concern has also increased in the wake of tensions in neighboring countries following the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has convened an all-party meeting to discuss this. In this meeting, the Modi government is trying to convince the opposition on the issue of Afghanistan. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has also responded positively.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made it clear that the Trinamool Congress will also be present at the meeting on Afghanistan on Thursday, August 26.

Trinamool Congress president and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee told a press conference at the state secretariat that she would attend an all-party meeting convened by the central government to discuss development in Afghanistan.

In view of the developments in Afghanistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed the Ministry of External Affairs to brief senior leaders of all political parties on the situation in Afghanistan. After that this all party meeting was organized.

During the meeting, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar will try to shed light on the situation in Afghanistan as well as Afghanistan-India relations. This meeting will be held in a virtual manner.

Representatives of your party will participate in this meeting and present their views. Mamata Banerjee said that the state and central governments were working together and would continue to work for the safe repatriation of people stranded in Afghanistan.
