Seven new faces are expected to make room in Sunday’s cabinet expansion. At the same time, some of the remaining ministers in the Amarinder Singh government may be handed over to the Dutch.
According to sources, Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channy has finalized the list of his new cabinet after discussions with Rahul Gandhi. Channy was in Delhi for the third time since taking office last Monday in the wake of a cabinet expansion. Along with Channy, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and Omprakash Soni were sworn in as Deputy Chief Ministers.
The meeting, which was held at Rahul Gandhi’s residence late on Thursday night, was also attended by Priyanka Gandhi, Punjab Congress in-charge Harish Rawat, KC Venugopal and Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channy.
Chief Minister Channy may call on Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit today. Channy was known as a special supporter of former Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh. Channy is also likely to get a chance at some new faces in the cabinet.
