New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a big announcement on Friday morning and assured that the constitutional process of repealing the agricultural laws would be completed in the forthcoming Parliament session. Meanwhile, there have been calls for the repeal of the Citizenship Reform Act (CAA) and the National Citizen Registration (NRC).

Maulana Arshad Madani, head of the country’s leading Muslim organization Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, has called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to repeal the CAA and the NRC Act.

The Citizenship Reform Act (CAA) and the National Civil Registration Act (NRC) are as dangerous to Muslims in the country as agricultural laws are to farmers. The Muslim community will have to bear the brunt of both these laws. Muslims will have to fight against these two laws in the same manner in which the farmers agitated without being defeated ‘, said Arshad Madani, signaling to start agitation against these two laws once again.

However, he faced every adversity and stood firm on his decision, said Arshad Madani, praising the farmers’ agitators. Madani also reported that the Modi government has withdrawn the agriculture laws considering its interest in the forthcoming elections.

Madani also claimed that the agitation against the Citizenship Reform Act encouraged farmers to fight against the agricultural laws. He also said that the strength and unity of the people is paramount in a democracy.

According to the amendment, six religious minorities (Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis, Christians and Sikhs) from Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Pakistan are proposed to be granted Indian citizenship. Also, in order to obtain Indian citizenship, the minimum age for any person in India is 11 years, according to the amended law, only six years.
