Jaipur: All systems have been shaken by the sudden surge in the number of patients amid fears that the Omicron variant could cause a third wave of Corona in the country. As many as 21 new patients were found in Rajasthan on the same day. The total number of patients in the state is now 43. An update on Omicron was given today by the Rajasthan Health Department. The samples were sent by the health department to the National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune. It has been revealed that 21 of them have been infected with Omicron. This includes 11 from Jaipur, 6 from Ajmer, 3 from Udaipur and one from Maharashtra. Out of these, 5 patients were reported to have returned from abroad. The state is abuzz with the discovery of 21 new patients on the same day. The total number of patients in the state is now 43.

Meanwhile, the number of Omicron victims in the country has now reached close to four and a half hundred. Maharashtra has the highest number of 108 Omicron patients, followed by Delhi with 79. This increase in the number of patients has raised concerns for the state and central governments.

Night curfew orders in Assam too

Many states have taken night curfew and other preventive measures following the Centre’s directive in view of the growing threat of Omicron. After Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana, Assam also decided on night curfew today. A state curfew will be imposed in the state from tomorrow. The curfew will be from 11.30 pm to 6 am. However, the order clarifies that there will be no night curfew on December 31.
