Corona reviews the situation

The Election Commission on Thursday reviewed the situation in Corona in the states where elections are to be held. The meeting convened by the Election Commission was attended by Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan and health experts. Besides, the Election Commission along with Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla had reviewed law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur.

Earlier, the Election Commission had visited Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab and Goa to review the preparations for the elections. At the same time, the Election Commission reviewed the preparations for the elections in Manipur through video conferencing.

When was the last time the announcement was made in Uttar Pradesh?

The dates for the 17th Assembly elections in 2017 in Uttar Pradesh were announced on December 4, 2016. Last time elections were held in 7 phases in the state. The term of the 17th Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh is till May 15. According to the last election, polling is likely to be held in 8 phases in Uttar Pradesh this time. Voting is expected in one phase in neighboring Uttarakhand and in three phases in Punjab.
