72 Rajya Sabha MPs retired; Prime Minister Modi’s emotional speech while saying goodbye

New Delhi: 72 Rajya Sabha MPs from various parties are retiring today and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made emotional remarks while bidding farewell to these MPs. ‘With the retirement of these MPs, we will be short of experienced comrades. ‘We have spent a lot of time in this Parliament. This House has contributed more to our lives than we have contributed to this House. We should use our experience as a member of this House for the progress of the country, ‘appealed Narendra Modi to the retiring MPs.

Voting for 13 Rajya Sabha seats

While 72 Rajya Sabha MPs are retiring, voting for 13 Rajya Sabha seats is also taking place today. Elections will be held for 13 seats in six states – Punjab, Kerala, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Tripura.

Meanwhile, the BJP currently dominates 97 out of 245 Rajya Sabha seats and efforts are being made by the party leadership to increase this number, while the Opposition has also come up with a strategy to stop the BJP.
