Amravati: A fire broke out at a chemical factory in Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday night. Six people have been killed and 13 others injured in the blaze. A gas leak at the Porus Chemical Factory in Akkireddy Goodum in Eluru district caused the reactor to explode and then a huge fire broke out. Five people died on the spot while one died on the way to the hospital. Also, 13 people were injured and some of them are in critical condition. Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy has announced help to the families of those killed and injured in the incident.

The injured have been admitted to Vijayawada Government Hospital. It is learned that 6 of the injured are from Bihar. The incident took place at 11.30 pm on Wednesday. Upon learning that the chemical company had caught fire, police and firefighters rushed to the scene and contained the blaze. The administration had initially admitted the injured to a hospital in the village of Nuzvid. However, he has since been shifted to Vijayawada for further treatment.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy has expressed grief over the incident. He expressed his condolences to the families of the victims. Jaganmohan Reddy has announced Rs 25 lakh for the families of those killed in the fire and Rs 5 lakh for the treatment of critically injured and Rs 2 lakh for those with minor injuries. The Collector and Superintendent of Police have also been directed to inquire into the matter. The Chief Minister has directed the authorities to assist in the treatment of the injured and for medical treatment.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Governor Vishwabhushan Harichandan has also expressed grief over the Eluru tragedy.
