A procession was taken out on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti in Jahangirpuri area of ​​Delhi today. There was a big crowd at the procession. Meanwhile, the two communities came face to face as the procession started. The atmosphere was soaked with stones and arson. Several people were injured in the stone pelting by the mob. Some police personnel and officers were also injured and all have been admitted to the hospital. Police have intervened and brought the situation under control and there is a tense calm in the area. An additional police force has been deployed in the area as a precaution. Senior police officials have also arrived at the spot and steps are being taken to crack down on rioters.

Meanwhile, incidents of communal violence have been on the rise in the country for the past few days. Violence had erupted in several states across the country on Ram Navami. Tensions were high due to stone pelting and arson incidents during the procession. Today, Congress President Sonia Gandhi, NCP President Sharad Pawar, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and 13 other leaders of the Opposition have issued a joint statement condemning the incident. While calling for peace and harmony, the leaders demanded stern action against those who incited ethnic violence. These leaders have also expressed surprise that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has remained silent on these incidents.
