New Delhi:The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) has seized assets worth Rs 757 crore from Amway India, a multi-level marketing (MLM) company, under the Money Laundering Prevention Act. The ED said in a statement on Monday. This action has caused a great stir. (Amway India Latest Breaking News)

The prices of most of the products offered by the company are higher than those of reputed manufacturers available in the open market, ED noted. “We are working with the authorities to reach a fair, legal and rational conclusion on the pending issues,” said a spokesman for Amway. The assets seized include land and a factory building, plant, machinery, vehicles, bank accounts and term deposits in Dindigul district of Tamil Nadu, the probe said in a statement. Of the total assets of Rs 757.77 crore, Rs 411.83 crore is immovable and movable assets, while the remaining Rs 345.94 crore is deposited in 36 bank accounts of Amway.

The ED’s action is related to the 2011 investigation. The company has been cooperating with the authority since then and has provided all the information requested from time to time, Amway said. Between 2002-03 and 2021-22, the company raised Rs 27,562 crore from its business. Of this, Rs 7,588 crore was paid as commission to distributors and members in the US and India, the ED said.
