Guwahati: Union Home Minister Amit Shah was on a visit to Assam today. In the program in Guwahati, Amit Shah has made an important statement about the upcoming Census. Amit Shah announced that state-of-the-art technology will be used to make the next census scientific. The next census will be E-Census. The entire census will be conducted online and it will be 100 percent accurate, explained Amit Shah.

The census building of Assam was inaugurated in the presence of Amit Shah at Amigaon in Guwahati, the capital of Assam. Amit Shah clarified that proper census is necessary for the development of the country.

According to Amit Shah, the next census will be an e-census, it will be 100 per cent accurate and based on that, India’s development plan for the next 25 years will be implemented. Talking about the upcoming census, Amit Shah gave more information. After the birth of a boy or a girl, his name will be recorded in the census. After completing 18 years, his name will be included in the voter list. The person’s name will be omitted after death. The new census will have an easier process to change the address and name, he said.

Amit Shah said that the birth and death registers will be linked to the census. From 2024, every birth and death will be registered in the country’s census, he said. The e-census will help us to formulate policies to plan for the next 25 years of development of the country, said Amit Shah. Shah said that he and his family would be the first to fill in the information in the e-census.

According to Amit Shah, census is important in policy making. Accurate census shows the development strategy and the status of SC and ST community. We also understand the lifestyle of people living in rural, urban and hilly areas from the census, said Amit Shah.
