6 to 7 people were trapped when part of the tunnel collapsed; Incident on Jammu-Srinagar Highway

Srinagar: A major accident has taken place while a tunnel was being constructed on the Jammu-Srinagar highway. It is feared that a part of the tunnel collapsed at Khooni Nala in Mekarkot area and 6 to 7 more people were trapped under the mound. One of the men was reportedly taken out safely.

The Deputy Commissioner of Ramban has informed about this accident. Part of the tunnel collapsed while work was underway at Khooni Nala. “Some people may be involved and rescue operations are underway,” he said.

Meanwhile, the tunnel is said to have collapsed while the audit work was underway. The people involved are believed to be employees of an auditing company.
