New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given his first reaction after the central government reduced the central excise duty on petrol and diesel. People are the first priority for us, said Narendra Modi. On the other hand, while announcing the decision, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitatharaman had earlier appealed to the non-tax deductible states. Pressure on non-BJP states has increased after the Finance Minister’s appeal. Kerala has also announced immediate tax cuts.

What did Prime Minister Narendra Modi say?

We have always thought of the people first, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Today’s decision will lead to a reduction in petrol and diesel prices. This decision will bring relief to various sectors, said Modi.

Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana will provide a subsidy of Rs. 200 for 12 gas cylinders. This will benefit almost 9 crore beneficiaries of this scheme. This will put a burden of Rs 6,000 crore on the central exchequer. Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the Ujjwala scheme has benefited millions of Indians. Especially women will benefit from today’s decision, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Kerala announces tax cuts
Kerala Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal has announced tax deduction. Following the central government, tax cuts on petrol and diesel have also been announced in Kerala. The tax on petrol has been reduced by Rs 2.41 and the tax on diesel by Rs 1.36. Kerala’s finance ministers have welcomed the Centre’s decision while announcing tax cuts. Balagopal has announced this decision by posting on Facebook.

After the central government cut taxes on petrol and diesel, the pressure on non-BJP states, including Maharashtra, has increased. Opposition leader Devendra Fadnavis and Amravati MP Navanti Rana have demanded that the Maharashtra government announce tax cuts.
