Bhopal: In Madhya Pradesh, the condition of farmers growing onion and garlic is dire. You can guess this from the fact that by selling 300 kg of onion, the farmer has got only Rs. 2. This case is of Shajapur Krishi Mandai in Ujjain Division. At present, prices of onion and garlic in Madhya Pradesh have come down considerably. Due to the low price of onion, the farmers are suffering financially.

Recently, a similar incident came to light in Shajapur Mandai, which people were surprised to hear and see. Jayaram, a farmer living in Bhadoni village, sold 300 kg of onion to a firm.

Shop directors Ashok Gami and Sadakat said that Jairam had reached the market with 6 sacks of onions. When he reached the market in the morning, he had taken Rs.300 in advance. After that the purchase of onion started. Their onion was sold between 80 paise and 1.25 rupees per kg. In this way they got 330 rupees of onion.

Meanwhile, the cost of bringing the onion to the market and the weight and transportation cost came to Rs.328. After this, farmer Jairam saved only Rs. After selling 300 kg of onion, the farmer got 2 rupees and the farmer was also speechless. Even the traders themselves are worried because the agricultural produce is not getting the right price.

A good onion was sold up to Rs 11 per kg

In the market, good onion is being sold at 8 to 11 rupees per kg. Medium quality onion is being sold at Rs 5 to 8 per kg. So the onion which is of low quality is being sold at a price of less than 1 rupee per kg. Jairam’s onion quality was also very poor. Since the onion was small, it was sold at 80 paise to 1.5 rupees per kg.
