New Delhi : After the Election Commission banned the use of Shiv Sena’s name by freezing the symbol of Shiv Sena in the wake of the by-elections in Andheri East assembly constituency, the group of party chief Uddhav Thackeray and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde had given three options to the commission. Now the Election Commission giving its decision has approved the party symbol ‘Mashal’ for Uddhav Thackeray’s group and the name ‘Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray’ for the party. On the other hand, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s party has been given the name ‘Balasaheb’s Shiv Sena’. Also, the Shinde group rejected all the three suggested options for the party symbol and ordered to suggest three more options for the symbol.

In fact, Uddhav Thackeray had opted for ‘Trishul’, ‘Rising Sun’ and ‘Mashal’ as election symbols for his party. For the new party name, ‘Shiv Sena Balasaheb Thackeray’, ‘Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray’ and ‘Shiv Sena Balasaheb Prabodhankar Thackeray’ were given for registration. But the Election Commission rejected the first two options and approved the third option for Shiv Sena’s party symbol.

‘Balasaheb’s Shiv Sena’ name given to Shinde group and torch symbol to Thackeray, what is the decision of Election Commission?

Why were the first two signs and one name ruled out?

After the ongoing battle between Uddhav Thackeray and Eknath Shinde, the Election Commission rejected the first two preferred symbols suggested by the Thackeray faction while giving its verdict on the Shiv Sena’s symbol and party name dispute. While taking this decision, the commission has also given information about the reasons behind it. The first symbol proposed by Shiv Sena, the trishul, was rejected as it had religious connotations. The Commission has refused to give it to the Thackeray group as the rising sun suggested by the Thackeray group is the symbol of the political party DMK in Tamil Nadu.

The bow and arrow froze, but what symbols did Shiv Sena have before? Bhujbal elected on ‘Mashali’!

What happened to the names?

Shiv Sena Balasaheb Thackeray was first suggested by Uddhav Thackeray for the name of the party. But since the first priority of the Shinde group is also the same, the Election Commission has finally approved the name of Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray, who is the second priority of the Thackeray group.

Meanwhile, the trident and mace proposed by the Shinde group were rejected as they had religious connotations, while the rising sun symbol was also rejected as it was already owned by the DMK. Therefore, the Shinde group will once again have to suggest three new options to the Election Commission for the party symbol.
