Azam Khan gave a speech, MLA canceled, out of the fray for the next 9 years

Lucknow: Azam Khan, the leader of Samajwadi Party and elected MLA for 10 consecutive times from Rampur Assembly Constituency, has received a big shock. The MP MLA Rampur court had convicted Azam Khan and sentenced him to three years in the hate speech case. After the decision of the Rampur court, Azam Khan has also lost his MLA. Uttar Pradesh Legislature Secretariat has issued a circular canceling Azam Khan’s MLA in this case. This is the second shock for Azam Khan.

Azam Khan was accused of making offensive comments about Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the 2019 Lok Sabha election campaign. Azam Khan was convicted by the MP MLA Court. It was said that Azam Khan’s membership in the Legislative Assembly would be revoked as he was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment and a fine of 25,000 rupees. According to the 2002 amendment to the Representation of the People Act, a person is barred from contesting elections for a period of 6 years after the completion of his sentence after being convicted in a case. According to the decision of the Supreme Court on July 10, 2013, the letter that Azam Khan’s MLA has been canceled has been removed from the Uttar Pradesh Legislature Secretariat. Azam Khan will not be able to contest elections for the next 9 years after receiving a three-year sentence and a further 6 years.

Azam Khan’s son also lost his MLA
