On Sunday afternoon, the body of a young woman was found in room number 506 on the fourth floor of a lodge in East Bardaman. Both had flower garlands around their necks. The girl had a pimple on her forehead. Their names are Mahadev Maji (20) and Priyanka Mitra (18). Mahadev is a resident of Dighal village in Indus, erstwhile Bankuda district. Priyanka is also a native of Bankud. But she lives with her family on rent in Ichalabad area of Bardaman. Mahadev used to work as a Rangari.
Shalimar Lodge Accountant Tapashkanti Mandal informed that Mahadev came to the lodge on Saturday evening. ‘Mahadev came from Bangalore. He said that he would stay for one night and leave in the morning. He had given a copy of Aadhaar card. After that room number 506 was given to him, said Mandal.
‘On the next day i.e. Sunday morning, Mahadev left the room. After some time he brought Priyanka Mitra with him. The lodge staff asked him about Priyanka. Mahadev replied that she is my sister and will leave shortly, Mandal said.
As no one came out of the room for a long time, the staff knocked on the door. There was no response from within. The manager informed the police. The police arrived after some time. They broke the door. Inside, two bodies were found hanging from the fan. Both had flower garlands around their necks. There was a lump in the girl’s neck. The police took down the bodies of both and sent them for post-mortem. The case is currently under investigation.
