New Delhi: The agitating farmers are adamant on their demands against the agricultural law. On the other hand, the government has shown readiness to hold unconditional discussions and today called on farmers’ associations for discussions. Therefore, farmers will not have to wait till December 3 to discuss with the government.

Earlier, the government had announced that discussions would be held with the farmers on December 3. However, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said that the meeting would be held today (Tuesday) instead of December 3 in view of the severe cold and cowardly transition in Delhi.

Millions of farmers from Punjab and Haryana settled on the border of Delhi as well as in the Nirankari Samagam Maidan in Burari area of Delhi. Today is the sixth day of this movement. Leaders of farmers’ associations have been invited for a discussion at Vigyan Bhavan in Delhi at 3.00 pm. The farmers leaders who participated in the meeting held on November 13 will also participate in the second meeting to be held today.

On behalf of the government, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will participate in the discussion. He may be accompanied by Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and some other ministers. Apart from this, senior officials of the Ministry of Agriculture will also be present.

Doubts in the minds of farmers about the discussion

Farmers, on the other hand, questioned the invitation extended by the government. According to Sukhwinder S Sabhran, vice-chairman of the Punjab Farmers ‘Struggle Committee, about 500 farmers’ organizations are protesting in the country. However, the government has invited only 32 organizations for discussions. On the other hand, the Indian Farmers’ Association has said that it will consider the invitation only when the government is ready to hold discussions with all the organizations.

The agitators say that due to agricultural laws, farmers will not get minimum guarantee. Is there any way out of this discussion? This has caught the attention of many.
