New Delhi: A senior pilot was sacked by GoAir on Thursday for making derogatory remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Twitter. A GoAir spokesman said:

An airline spokesperson said GoAir had taken immediate action and fired senior pilot Mickey Malik for making derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Capt Malik, who commented on the PM on Thursday, deleted the offensive tweet and locked his account.

The spokesperson said that it was GoAir’s policy not to tolerate such practices. It is mandatory for employees to follow all company rules, instructions and policies. This also includes social media transactions, a GoAir spokesperson said. The spokesperson also said that the airlines have nothing to do with the personal views expressed by any person or employee.
