New Delhi: The Indian Navy successfully tested the Brahmos Supersonic Cruise Missile from a destroyer in the Bay of Bengal on Tuesday, official sources said. The missile (land, water, air) is being tested by all three forces of the Indian Army. Under it, a naval version of the BrahMos missile was tested. The Indian Navy conducted a similar test of the missile in the Arabian Sea six weeks ago.

The Indian Navy’s warship INS Ranavijay successfully tested an anti-ship BrahMos missile. The missile hit an accurate target with more lethal capabilities, said Navy spokesman Commander Vivek Modwal.

The original range of the BrahMos missile is 290 km

Indo-Russian joint venture BrahMos Aerospace has developed supersonic cruise missiles. These missiles can be fired from submarines, ships or from the ground. The Indian Army test-fired a surface-to-surface BrahMos missile on November 24. The speed of this missile is three times the speed of sound. The range of the surface-to-air missile has been increased to 400 km. The missile has a range of 290 km.

India has deployed BrahMos missiles on its border with China. In the last two and a half months, India has tested a number of missiles, including the anti-radiation missile Rudram-1. The Rudram-One missile is expected to be in service by 2022.
